artist to watch: L A N Y
Thursday, October 13, 2016, October 13, 2016

genre: indie/dream pop
L A N Y sounds like: the 1975, The NBHD (?)
worth checking out: yea, babe, no way / ILYSB / BRB

"what happened with your playlist, ra? -- six pals and still counting.

trust me, i, myself, have been questioning the same thing too. But, when it comes LANY, i think it's not that hard to fall in love with this Los Angeles-based trio, especially with paul klein's smooth and dreamy voice (fangirling mode:on). personally that's what caught my attention to this band. their song "yea, babe, no way" has a mix of upbeat catchy and nostalgic vibe-- as stated by the lead vocalist "this song is about that exact back and forth emotion. like... 'wow i miss you and what we had was pretty amazing and actually how did this not work out nd yeah this hurts a ton and sometimes kinda a lot of times i wanna call you and try again, but then i'm like i can't, i just can't... you know? it's kind of feeling." (beuh, baper.)

the other song that i like is ILYSB (i love you so bad). unlike yea, babe, no way, ILYSB is more ballad (with memorable one-liner rather than catchy hooks). and i also love their strong minimalistic band image and design (my new aesthetics! i mean look at the handwritten newsletter below :D). and not only the songtitles, their band is also unique because it stands for LA/NY (Los Angeles x New York). somehow they kinda remind me the 1975 and the NBHD. definitely gonna put them on my next youtube playlist.
